"Window into the Past"

Mural grade acrylic on the interior walls of Alushe Coffee Bar

This mural was inspired by the Mayan iconography of the Yucatan, this mural depicts a jaguar coming into a lagoon accompanied by aluxes (mayan mystical creatures). Behind the jaguar is a landscape of mayan ruins including the Caracol, the Observatory; a world famous landmark. To the right is a long extension of elements of the forests of the Yucatan. The first thing seen is a Jaguar Warrior, a symbol of mysticism and power. To the right is a woman holding a native feline from the Yucatan, the Margay. The woman is based off the mother of one of the owners of Alushe Coffee Bar.  Hidden in the shrubbery is a Monarch Butterfly. Below is a Xoloitzcuintli, a sacred dog of Meso-american culture believed to help guide the dead through the underworld. On the dog's back is a Yellow Backed Oriole, a native bird often seen in the Yucatan. Above the three dogs is a glowing hummingbird, a symbol of the sun, joy and renewal. Beside the dogs is the Mayan Goddess Chriakan-Ixmucane, a goddess of creation. Next to the goddess is a woman in a traditional Mexican outfit with a Social Flycatcher bird on her shoulder. She is based on the mother of the other owner or Alushe Coffee Bar. Above her is a Spider Monkey, and a Yucatan Amazon bird. Next to that is a Jaguar with a Yellow Backed Oriole on his back. Next to the Jaguar is an Iguana sitting on a stone wall with a small mayan ruin behind in a sunset.

"Decentered"

Mural grade acrylic on the interior walls of Decentered Arts Studio

A scene of colorful people invoking the spirits of animals in an artistic jam is the representation we chose for Decentered Arts Studio Space. This project was a collaboration with long time colleague Pancho Pescador as the collective Chilovia. We were trusted to paint the space as we saw fit with full creative freedom. We were inspired by the eclectic personalities found in the space and amazing talent that flows through the space. Decentered Arts is a Non-profit Organization located in Folsom st and 8th St in San Francisco California.

"Free Housing 4 All"

A collaborative piece on the streets of San Francisco. This Mural was a one day paint jam of myself, Francisco Ramirez from San Jose, Pancho Pescador from Chile, and Lian Yung from Marin. Each person worked their piece for the day and then called it done. We all worked off each other's creativity to create a beautiful and fun mural for the local community of the Lower Haight.

"La Lucha"

A collaborative piece on the streets of Oakland. Painted alongside longtime collaborator Pancho Pescador (@panchopescador) as the collective Chilovia (@chilovia). We were inspired by the paintings of Diego Rivera and Jorge Gonzalez Camarena and the current struggles faced in the streets of California. This mural was painted for the people of Fruitvale Oakland, a budding latin community. The mural was painted solely in spraypaint as a challenge to what was possible in details with that medium.

This project was done as a Chilovia production, a collaboration with my fellow artist Pancho Pescador (@panchopescador) and the community input of San Rafael California. The work was worked on in spraypaint on woodpanel with the help of local youth community. The work was alter on installed on the rooftop of the building of Canal Alliance, a Non-profit Community Center who help support the latin community of San Rafael California. The mural was inspired by the vision of the community who are predominantly Mexican and Guatemalan.
